Course Syllabus:

Workshop Structure & Daily Focus

Day 1: Presentation, Discussion, and Q&A

  • Structural and functional anatomy

  • Using radiographs for hoofcare decision-making, balance, and shoe placement

  • Pattern recognition and the 6 Hoof Types: developing “X-ray Vision”

  • Where’s P3? Activity— locating P3 within the hoof capsule

  • Postural rehabilitation concepts

  • In-depth case studies using photos, radiographs, and video

Day 2: Live Horse Demos — Assessment & Subtractive Processes

  • Whole-horse assessment using the scientific method

  • Hoof mapping in 3-D and documentation

  • Reading radiographs for practical application

  • Subtractive Methods: trimming to move the hoof closer to ideal

Day 3: Hands-On for Participants — Assessment & Subtractive Processes

  • Hands-on practice on cadavers and live horses 

  • One-on-one coaching

  • Horse & hoof assessment and 3-D mapping

  • Tool use and working effectively under the horse

  • Comparing trim choices and outcomes

  • Radiograph comparisons on feet before and after your work

Day 4: Presentation, Live Horse Demos — Glue-On Composite Shoeing

  • How glue works and keys to successful application

  • Direct and indirect gluing techniques

  • Composite shoe and glue selection

  • Shoe fit, sizing, and placement

  • Live horse demonstrations

Day 5: Hands-On for Participants — Assessment, Subtractive & Additive Processes

  • Hands-on composite shoe application practice of all kinds

  • One-on-one coaching and troubleshooting


 

While every 5-Day Hoof Workshop follows the same general format, because the individuals attending AND the horses/cadaver hooves are different each time, every workshop becomes its own unique experience with dynamic, interactive content being discussed, demo'd and practiced!
